A wardrobe edit is more than just decluttering your closet—it’s a transformative process that helps you refine your style, maximize your wardrobe’s potential, and feel confident in every outfit. Whether you’re working with a professional or tackling it yourself, here’s everything you need to know.

A wardrobe edit involves reviewing your clothing collection to keep only what fits, flatters, and aligns with your lifestyle. It focuses on creating a curated wardrobe filled with versatile pieces that reflect your personal style and suit your body shape and colour palette

Why is wardrobe edit important?

Sustainability: Why would you want to buy more clothes when you may already have something similar in your wardrobe? Having this awareness will help you shop more intentionally.

Clarity and Confidence: Decision-fatigue is real! Having a good knowledge of what you have will help you get ready for your day with speed and confidence

Let go! It takes strength to let go of the things that you have had for years. Perhaps they are outdated, maybe they don’t fit anymore. But having them take up space in your wardrobe is definitely causing you overwhelm.

How does a professional wardrobe edit work?

Assessment: I analyse your body shape, style personality and colour palette before we get started. These are the foundations

Pre- edit: If you know that you have pieces for the charity shop, get rid of those ahead of our session to save time

Declutter: We divide your clothes into Keep, Donate, Sell. This will be based on our discussion with how those pieces are working for you

Restyle + Organise: I will help you restyle new outfits from your clothes that you have decided to keep. I will photograph them and share with you. You now have a catalogue of your outfits!

Identify the gaps: We will identify the pieces that your wardrobe is lacking in terms of outfit creation. This will become your shopping list. If you are curious about personal shopping, you can read my blog here

DIY Wardrobe editing tips

  • If you wear something and don’t enjoy it, don’t put it back in your wardrobe – Donate/Sell. This means you are constantly editing
  • Regularly sort out your wardrobe so that you can see everything and keep your clothes in their relevant sections
  • If you try something on, but don’t have anything to match it, add it to your shopping gaps list
  • If you are tempted to buy something, think very intentionally about what you are going to mix and match with it. And what shoes you have that will be right! Here’s some extra info on what boots you should be wearing this winter
