You know you need help with how to dress for your body shape! Things have changed and you have lost your confidence in how to put things together. The high street is overwhelming and you don’t know where to start. You are avoiding going out because you have nothing to wear.

It’s time for a personal stylist. But how should you decide who is right for you?

Identify your goals:

Take some time to reflect on what you hope to achieve. Do you need someone to review your wardrobe and help you make sense of it?

Do you need help understanding your body shape and style? Is it personal shopping with an expert that will solve your issues?

It may be a combination of all these things

But having this clear in your mind will help you choose someone that has that firmly within their skills

Location:

If it’s in person services that you prefer, you need to establish who works in your area. The easiest way to do that, is google “personal stylists in my area”. Or “colour analysis near me”. You will find a list of people that are working in this business close to you

Choosing someone near you or someone who services/travels to your area means that personal shopping in your nearest town is more straightforward.

Research and read reviews:

Once you have found someone that is working as a personal stylist near you, you need to get to know them from the available information.

Have a look at the websites, particularly the packages and pricing structure. Their Instagram pages will give you a good sense of what services they focus on, what their flair is.

This will also give you a sense of that individuals style. Everyone has a different style and approach, and you need to be sure that you are choosing someone who aligns with your values.

Their google reviews will also give you a good insight. And how recent those reviews are – may be concerning if they are old.

Is there a blog page and how active is he/she on the blog.

These things all give an insight to a person who you are about to spend time and money on. It’s important!

Package of services:

An experienced personal stylist should offer a range of services tailored to your needs. Look for stylists who provide body shape analysis, wardrobe editing, colour analysis, personal shopping, and confidence coaching. These services should be customizable to your specific goals and budget.

Assess their qualifications and experience: While formal qualifications aren’t always necessary, look for stylists with relevant

training or certifications in areas like colour theory, fashion design, or image consulting. More importantly, seek out stylists with extensive experience working with women in your age group and with similar style concerns.

Before you decide:

Most personal stylists offer a complimentary discovery call, with no obligation.Use this opportunity to discuss your goals, ask about their process, and gauge your comfort level with them. A good stylist should listen attentively, ask thoughtful questions, and provide clear guidance on how they can help you achieve your desired outcomes.

Trust your instincts:

Ultimately, choosing a personal stylist is a deeply personal decision. You’ll be working closely with this person, sharing your insecurities and trusting them to guide you through a transformative process. Choose someone you feel genuinely comfortable with, who understands your unique needs and celebrates your individuality.

This should be a fun experience and choosing the right person will feel like hanging out with a good friend, with added bonus of you having a big injection of confidence in your personal image.
